It’s tough getting a little one to sit down and stay still long enough to read a book. And my son is no different. But these are some of our favorite books because not only does my son enjoy it when we read these books to him, but they’re not mindless. I actually enjoy reading these books for one-year-olds! Bonus, they’re cardboard. Enjoy!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault
This is a great book to start teaching about the alphabet and all the different sounds they make. Even capital and lowercase letters!
The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone
I love how creative this book is! And my son never seems to tire of how dramatic it is.
I’m Going to Give You a Bear Hug by Caroline B. Cooney
This book is sweet, and the perfect read for bedtime!
Piggies by Don and Audrey Wood
This is a great book to start teaching about the different fingers we have on our hands and counting those fingers.
This is another great read for bedtime. And a great way to tell your little one just how much you love them.
Monday the Bullfrog by Matthew Van Fleet
This has been one of my son’s favorite books before he could even crawl. The best part about this book is that it doubles as a stuffed frog toy. His favorite thing about this book is how it’s also a puppet that I can pretend is actually eating him at the end of the book. In other words, it’s a great children’s book, which is why it made my list of great books for one-year-olds!
