Have you ever been reading through a book when the author describes a certain food so well you think, “I have to try that!” That’s why I compiled a list of some great recipes inspired by books to make for a bookish meal or even a dessert! Be sure to get the kids involved in some of these recipes inspired by children’s books.
Turkish Delight – The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
Who didn’t read or even watch the movie and not want to try Turkish Delight? I know I wanted to try it the minute Edmund bit into a piece!
Peach Cobbler – James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
Peaches are one of my favorite summer foods, so flying around on a giant peach sounds like a dream!
Shepherd’s Pie – The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
This is great comfort food. Although I haven’t yet read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (it’s on the TBR list), I still love a good shepherd’s pie!
Lane Cake – To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I remember reading To Kill a Mockingbird in high school, and this cake sounds amazing!
Honey Bun Cake – Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne
Anything with honey in it is already an A+ in my book, and who doesn’t love Winnie the Pooh?
